Return to the body

Embodied Healing One-on-One sessions where moving toward inhabiting the body and compassionate presence is the anchor and the foundation of the work.  It is where the work and often the magic begins...

These private sessions are both profound and simple.  I support you as you find your way toward a compassionate and responsive return to feeling, breathing, sensing body.

Our bodies hold much.  Our body is where we know love, awe, joy and peace.  Our body is a compass and a truth teller.  Some call this intuition.  Our body is a vigilant protector.  Our bodies can hold unprocessed emotions or unspoken boundaries as physical tension.

I don't know what will arise in the session.  I do know, I will listen deeply, I will tend kindly, and I offer my broad expertise to welcome the conditions of your empowerment and healing.

Remember your Wholeness

I believe our capacity to heal is innate and relational.  Often, we are overwhelmed or hurt by life and don't have sufficient resourcing or support and this can leave us stuck.

In these sessions, together we will honour the suffering that is present, and we will explore finding paths to more safety, more laughter, and more hope.  When we have enough resource, its amazing how the gifts and teaching of the suffering are revealed.

Often the healing in sessions in not simply a reflection of an individual's pain, but also is a reflection of cultural disfunction or generation trauma that has been handed forward.  This work is individual, and my hope is that it will ripple to create cultural change.

What is healing?

Healing is to remember your wholeness, your power, and innate connection.  It is to be renewed.  Sometimes, wonderfully, it also has tangible physical impacts; and sometimes it does not.  I have experienced both in my life; and either way; when the gift remembering wholeness arrives; it is so precious and worthwhile.  It is to be alive, while living.

I appreciate Lissa Rankin's understanding of the differences and the overlap of curing and healing from her book, Sacred Medicine: A Doctor’s Quest to Unravel the Mysteries of Healing.

“By definition, it (healing) means to become whole. This is the work of the soul, this reclamation of wholeness, which often means venturing not only into the light, so valorized in our culture, but also down into the holy ground of darkness, bringing the two together into something larger than the sum of their parts... healing is different than curing.

You can be healed without being cured, and you can be cured without being healed. But when healing happens, a cure is sometimes a welcome side effect.

Even when it’s not, healing makes you whole, and wholeness just might be the raison d’être of human existence.”

Testimonials

Jolene

Jennelle created a safe place to relax and lean in. I was new to the experience of yoga therapy and found it very calming and a great way to clear the mind.

I am now more mindful, have tactics for managing hyperactivity, and the ability to be more grounded.

If you've never tried this type of self care - do it ! It was one of the best experiences I've had on my healing journey !

Michelle

I was always impressed how much better I felt after each session, in regards to reducing anxiety or tension.

I enjoyed self reflecting at the end and trying to carry the practice through the week.

I kept realizing that I can become more in tune with myself to gain strength, heal and find inner wisdom.

Kim S.

Jennelle met me where I was at and seemed to quicky know where my body needed and wanted to go, while creating a safe space for me to ask for what I needed.

In these sessions, I found equal parts laughter and tears, followed by the deep peace of staying with my body and being held in my expression.

Sunset

In truth, the heart of this work feels like doing nothing—just as a sunset needs only to be received.  I am here as a safe anchor, honoring the unfolding of your potential.

About My Approach

For many years, I described my work as Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy—and this way of approaching transformational healing through through presence, embodiment, and respectful exploration is still the ground and foundation of Embodied Healing sessions.  â€‹

When appropriate I will offer complimentary practices that I have learned outside the scope of a yoga.  This may look like a ritual that includes releasing corn meal or water to the earth.  This may look like calling in the four directions or inviting you to speak and listen to your womb space.

Yoga does hold ritual, spirit, womb, and nature connection and there are other lineages where I have also learned very meaningful and impactful practices.  To me it comes down to the question, "What brings us in touch with feeling our inherent interconnection, with the sacred, and our vastness?"

Sometimes its yoga, sometimes its watching the sunset over calm water, sometimes it holding a stone and asking that stone to hold the pain that we are so tired of carrying alone.  So that brings me to another guiding question, "What works?"  So in these sessions I foster curiosity and a following of what truly supports you.

When I offer you a session, we try things, and we follow and are guided by what feels appropriate and ultimately works for you.  We aren't all the same, and that is wonderful.

A Note on Scope of Practice

These sessions are spiritual and somatic in nature. They do not replace licensed medical or psychological care, but offer a complementary path of embodied awareness, inner exploration, and integration.
